roof, there are times when the metal roofs require
roof repairs to prevent leakage.
Metal roofs are of different types and the type of
roof you have determines the nature and method of
repair. You can do the job on your own if it is not
very serious or complicated. If you have never done
roof repairs before, then it is recommended to call
in professional contractors are experienced enough
to identify the exact problem and provide effective
solutions.
If it is an emergency situation where you cannot
locate a contractor immediately, here are a few roof
repairs procedures you can follow to bring your
metal roof leakage under control.
If you have a piece of metal in the same roofing
material, cut it in a size larger than the area that
has to be fixed.
Using a wire brush, clean the area around the patch
before applying butyl tape or flux depending on the
method of roof repairs you are going to adopt. For
example, if you are going to weld the metal, then it
is a good idea applying flux around the damaged area
rather than using a butyl tape.
Hold the patch in place after covering the hole.
Around the patch, drill holes for screws if you are
not going to weld the patch.
If you are welding the patch to the roof, it is
important to ensure that the solder runs all around
the area including under the seam.
After the welding procedure is complete, you must
use roofing cement to cover the repair area before
applying the patch.
An important part of roof repairs is to caulk the
area around the screws or seal. Use a roof coating
to cover after the caulk dries.
