If you have a piece of metal in the same roofing material, cut it in a size larger than the area that has to be fixed.

Using a wire brush, clean the area around the patch before applying butyl tape or flux depending on the method of roof repairs you are going to adopt. For example, if you are going to weld the metal, then it is a good idea applying flux around the damaged area rather than using a butyl tape.

Hold the patch in place after covering the hole. Around the patch, drill holes for screws if you are not going to weld the patch.

If you are welding the patch to the roof, it is important to ensure that the solder runs all around the area including under the seam.

After the welding procedure is complete, you must use roofing cement to cover the repair area before applying the patch.

An important part of roof repairs is to caulk the area around the screws or seal. Use a roof coating to cover after the caulk dries.
